To pop your own, use an air popper or try this popcorn recipe hack:
Mix 3-4 tablespoons of unpopped kernels with a very small amount (1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon) of Olive Oil. Place in a brown paper bag. Fold the top over at least twice to make a tight seal. Microwave on high for approximately 2 minutes or until you hear a few seconds between pops. Turn the microwave off to prevent scorching of the bag. Carefully remove the bag from the microwave and carefully open the bag. Watch out for hot steam!
